Every K-On! fan would definitely desire this Nendoroid Mio Akiyama PVC figure (けいおん! ねんどろいど 秋山澪 (PVC&ABS塗装済み可動フィギュア)) from Good Smile Company. Most of us who love the K-ON! anime are also avid Mio fans and already, this Nendoroid Mio has proven to be a huge hit. GSC did not even anticipate the size of the demand they would really get and the first shipment sold out promptly. Many did not even manage to get their preorder in in time but thankfully there is a second shipment that was out earlier this week. Quite a few places still have them and the prices have gone down to normal retail prices (you can see a comparison below) so do not end up paying more than what you should be doing so for a Nendoroid Mio figure. She might become more expensive when this current shipment become extinct, but not for now.
Not much more I can say about Nendoroid Mio and this figure line in general because I simply love these little deformed cuties. Most of us would love the crying Mio face in Nendoroid form:
The rest of the faces available are just as adorable and you also get a Nendoroid-sized bass guitar and amp for the left hand bassist. Pretty useful for some exchangeable poses with the other figures in the series. Can’t wait for the other three to come out, especially Nendoroid Yui whom I absolutely adore. Yes, I know she’s an airhead but a really cute one!

The wonderful Hatsune Miku VN02 Mix PVC figure (初音ミク VN02 mix (1/8スケールPVC&ABS塗装済み完成品)) is yet another Hatsune Miku for fans. However, it will be of special taste judging by comments that many prefer the cuter face that she usually sports. Personally, I find this figure has a different angle to it and the futuristic feel is definitely well present by the pose, the colours, base and suit that adorns her. The serious tone of it all would obviously not fit the normal Hatsune Miku face but the Hatsune Miku VN02 mix PVC figure itself is of top notch quality, based on equally awesome illustrations from Nagimiso of the cybernetic Miku.

I have a soft spot for futuristic figures or something that just screams out bombastic art and this figure definitely has it all. The different shades of green used also complements her well, and I can imagine it looking good standing next to the Black Rock Shooter pvc figure (oh when will it finally be out?). Max Factory definitely seems to have done a great job from initial masters but we will only know for sure in half a year’s time. The Hatsune Miku VN02 mix PVC figure does not see a release until Jun 2010. Long wait as usual but perhaps well worth it.

I’ve had a look around as usual trying to get my hands on the pre-order at the best possible price and the following are what I found and compared between. No prizes in guessing which one I opted for. It is still early and you can get the cheap preorder of the Hatsune Miku VN02 mix PVC figure. Figures like this are usually very expensive and might take forever before they are gone. Look at the Supercell feat. Hatsune Miku World is Mine PVC figure for example. Beautiful but you can still find it everywhere because of the price factor and bad economy that is hurting every collector’s wallet. So better to shop around and get the best prices possible.
Price Comparisons for Hatsune Miku VN02 mix PVC figure:
Amazon Japan – 10,300 yen w/free shipping
AmiAmi – 9,800 yen
HobbySearch – 11,581 yen
Play-Asia – US$139.90

And soon to be gone! Good things come to those who wait but unfortunately that does not include me because right now if you have not already seen it, the absolutely gorgeous Yoko Gift Version PVC figure is now on sale at HobbyLink Japan’s 1st anniversary sale for only 5,720 yen which can be considered a real steal against the normal retail price of over 8,000 yen. Only 7 pieces remaining when I saw it just now so if you’ve been holding out for this figure, now would be the best time to grab it.
Meanwhile I’ve been spending loads of time staring at my own Yoko Gift figure and having strange dreams of myself with her. Those cute cheeks and bright large eyes are drawing me into her world and it’s hard to wake up. It’s also hard to get started for now after recent trips out of the country so an extended break might be in order for awhile more before I get back with some of my recent favourite figures. A lot’s coming up on the horizon and you can never have enough figures to collect, in my opinion.
Enjoy your Yoko Gift from HobbyLink Japan…
